Yankee Planning Group is a small, service-oriented firm headed by Daniel Rothenberg, MRP. Prior to founding Yankee in 1995, Mr. Rothenberg was an environmental analyst, senior environmental analyst, and principal planner at Connecticut's Department of Environmental Protection, chiefly serving as manager of the state's municipal coastal management program, supervising a staff of seven professional planners working in 41 cities and towns. In addition, Dan managed several related programs, including the state's harbor management program and coastal nonpoint source pollution control efforts. Mr. Rothenberg also served as co-chairman of the Long Island Sound Study's Land Use Working Group which presented its findings and recommendations in the 1994 Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan for Long Island Sound.

He has lectured at the University Of Connecticut, the Williams College/Mystic Seaport Maritime Studies Program, Central Connecticut State University, and the International Marina Institute.

Dan earned a Master of Regional Planning Degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he also taught writing, rhetoric and public speaking courses in the English Department. Dan also earned a Bachelor of English degree from Alfred University.
